5 places I need to return to and 5 I will probably not.
Hello,
Today I felt super inspired by walking around Bristol on a sunny day and remembering why I loved it. It reminded me that there was a lot of places that I really loved around the world. So this is going to be a post of 5 places I need to return to and 5 that I will not be returning to! These are probably not going to be in order as I don’t want to upset anyone!
The place I want to return to number 1 – Barcelona
I went to Barcelona in 2016 with my grandparents. It was a really lovely time and I had a lot of fun, it felt like it is a city that I really needed to explore further. I loved the architecture and proximity to the beach.
I will treasure the memories of going on that holiday with my late grandfather, and I now want to head back to with my boyfriend and explore everything I missed last time!
The place I want to return to number 2 – Essaouira
This is one of the best places I have ever visited. My boyfriend told me the best things about this place, a chilled out Moroccan city on the edge of the beach and it lived up to it! I feel I need to go back again in a warmer month (January was a bit cool).
The place I want to return to number 3 – Timisoara
This is always my secret hidden gem that we went to. It was the most beautiful place in Romania, with beautiful buildings and the friendliest people. It was a warm and inviting place and I really want to head back there again.
The place I want to return to number 4 – Kathmandu and Pokhara
I went to Nepal in 2014, before the earthquake. I really loved Pokhara, it was a super fun and I found the lakeside was a beautiful spot. Now, I want to head back and explore it again, the whole city without the charity work I was doing there last night.
Kathmandu was such a crazy place and I only really remember the 2 days I spent there. It was very hot and we saw a lot of the old town, some of which collapsed in the earthquake. I now want to go and explore Kathmandu at my own pace and see what has changed in the past few years.
The place I want to return to number 5 – Annecy
This was a city I visited on my sixth form geography trip and had to do a series of activities and interviews there. The lake was beautiful and so were the buildings, I want to head back and have more time to sightsee in the ‘Venice of the Alps’.
This isn’t a complete list of everywhere I want to go, but this is a list of 5 of the places I have been already and want to return to. Every place on that list I didn’t get enough time in and places I have fallen in love with.
Now onto 5 places, I don’t think I will be returning to.
I want to make it very clear that I liked almost all of these places, I just have reasons for not wanting to return to them again.
The place I won’t return to 1 – Rome
This one probably comes as no surprise, especially if you have read my why I didn’t like Rome post. I didn’t like the city and have no plans to return as it just wasn’t the place for me.
The place I won’t return to 2 – Split
The same holiday as Rome, I enjoyed Split while I was there but I am not sure I enjoyed it enough to go back.
The island hopping was lovely and I would like to head to more islands near there, but I think we did most of the things to see in Split.
I would love to visit Croatia again especially Dubrovnik and Zagreb.
The place I won’t return to 3 – Dublin
I really liked Ireland. Dublin was a very vibrant and fun city, even in December however I think we exhausted the things to do in Dublin and started to find it a little expensive.
I can understand why everyone loves Dublin and I agree, I just have no plans to head back again.
It wasn’t that I didn’t like it, I just feel the pull to other parts of Ireland instead.
The place I won’t return to 4 – Murcia
Murcia is a lovely city that I visited with my grandparents again as they live up the road from it. I’m just not sure after one visit that I have a burning desire to return and explore again.
It was pretty, but I think I have done it already now.
Especially when there are lots of beautiful Spanish cities I would love to explore, like Cartagena, Valencia, Sevilla and Granada.
The place I won’t return to 5 – Venice
I won’t deny that I love Venice. Venice is an amazing city, there is water everywhere and it felt very surreal to me. Once again, I may go back one day, but currently, I think the memories are magical of Venice and more than one visit may lessen the magic for me!
So there we go. There’s my list of 5 places I REALLY want to return to, especially as I either fell in love with them or didn’t have enough time to explore. And 5 places I won’t return to as I have either done most of the things on offer and feel I need to explore other places!
Let me know if there’s anywhere you loved and need to go back, or places you have exhausted in the comments.
Until next time,
The Great Ambini
