 1) Tanzania

Ming vases and Venetian glass have been found here, calling into question everything we know about pre-colonial Kenya.

 

 3) Lesotho

 

If the natural world is something you look for on your travels, Lesotho is a country which can’t go overlooked. Similar in feel and look to the planet of Naboo from the Star Wars franchise, this paradise blends emerald green hills with crisp, royal blue lakes.

Hikers will be able to enjoy themselves here too. The Maluti Mountains offer the perfect challenge for anyone seeking to don their boots and tackle a cliff face which provides different terrain to what they might be used to.

 

 4) Zanzibar

This semi-autonomous region within Tanzania often raises debates as to whether it counts as its own country or not. For the sake of this list, we’re including it as one. It does have its own president, after all.

 

While you’re there, be sure to check out the wide range of beaches, each of which offers visitors the chance to relax in some of the most picturesque and idyllic spots in the world. Nakupenda, Kendwa and Nungwi beach all provide their own highlights for visitors to check out.
