Hello fellow budget hunters,
Recently, I have been back to Bristol for the first time in many years, it is a city I love almost as much as Cardiff. We used to come here all the time when we were younger and it still feels the same. Bristol is known as the fun city, it is very indie and just has a very comfortable feel.
So I decided to tell you 6 reasons you need to visit Bristol!
1. The People are friendly
It sounds really weird, but the people of the UK apart from London are very friendly. Bristol is one of the friendliest places I have ever been, on one afternoon strolling around Cabot circus and Harbourside I had so many people ask if I needed help with directions, say hi to me and just generally chat. It is like being in a small village, but on a large scale!
2. It is so pretty
It is a great city to take awesome pictures in, there are so many cool places to see. Bristol is very instagram worthy and perfect for getting the cutest pictures!
3. There’s so many things to do
We always used to be members of a museum place called @ Bristol, but I now think it is called “We the curious”. I think it is a science museum, where kids can explore the world through play.
There is also still the Victorian Zoo, which has been extended and is now a lot bigger, but is a great day out. We were members for years and I do have many fond memories of that zoo. When I looked them up, you can get tickets for as low as £11 now in off peak seasons.
There is also an amazing aquarium in one of the old buildings from @ Bristol. We have been there a few times and still have some family jokes about stinger rays.
4. Street Art
The home of Banksy. Not just Banksy though, almost everywhere has street art and it just adds to the chilled out city.
You can do a lot of walking tours to see all of the art. But there is also so many statues.
Definitely worth a walk around and keep your eyes peeled.
5. The food
As a very independent city, there are so many cool places to eat.
I love eating in independent places and I have found a couple through recommendations.
I have planned a few foodie posts about the places I’ve been, so keep your eyes peeled.
6. The culture
There’s so much history in this city. There’s just so much going on from food festivals, to rowing boats, to just street performers and buskers.
There’s something so welcoming about Bristol and I would be happy to call this place home.
I love Bristol, I think that is obvious. But I think it is somewhere that everyone should visit.
They have so many things on over the year, my favourite being the balloon festival. It is just the most amazing thing to watch and I would love to see it this year !
I also love the suspension bridge, just looking at the architecture. I spent a good 5 minutes trying to work out some layouts of churches and old facades, and how they look now since being restored.
I hope these pictures have done the city justice and persuaded you to visit the cosmopolitan city that is Bristol. It is the best English city.
Until next time,
The Great Ambini
